Favorites to win the 2024-25 Champions League
Liverpool (+449)
Liverpool are the only team left standing with a perfect 100% record.
They earned full marks in their latest game, a convincing 2-0 home win against the holders, Real Madrid.
With the victory, they maintain their lead atop the Champions League table and as such have seen their odds shorten.
Liverpool opponents: AC Milan (A), Bologna (H), RB Leipzig (A), Bayer Leverkusen (H), Real Madrid (H), Girona (A), Lille (H), PSV Eindhoven (A).
Manchester City (+500)
It was all going smoothly for Manchester City—until it wasn't.
The reigning English Champions are now winless in six matches in all competitions and the manner in which they are losing is even more shocking than the results.
At home, against lowly Feyenoord, Man City let a 3-0 lead slip away to extend the winless run.
Despite sitting 17th in the table with eight points from five matches, Man City remain among the favorites.
Man City opponents: Inter Milan (H), Slovan Bratislava (A), Sparta Prague (H), Sporting CP (A), Feyenoord (H), Juventus (A), Paris Saint-Germain (A), Club Brugge (H).
Barcelona (+600)
After Barcelona's opening loss to Monaco, many quickly wrote them off as a non-factor this season.
But since then, they've hit their stride, scoring 17 goals — including an impressive four against Bayern Munich.
Their latest victim, Brest, were brushed aside 3-0, with Robert Lewandowski bagging a brace.
Thanks to this sustained form, Barcelona are among the favorites to reach the pinnacle of European football once more.
Barcelona opponents: Monaco (A), Young Boys (H), Bayern Munich (H), Crvena zvezda (A), Brest (H), Borussia Dortmund (A), Benfica (A), Atlanta (H).
Arsenal (+648)
After suffering consecutive scoreless defeats to Newcastle and Inter Milan, the Gunners have seemingly found their form on the attacking end.
A 1-1 draw with Chelsea was quickly followed up by a 3-0 win vs. Nottingham Forest, before pumping five goals past a Sporting side who just recently lost their head coach.
While things appear on the up and up, Arsenal still have a lot of work to do to maintain their position inside the Top 8.
Arsenal opponents: Atalanta (A), Paris Saint-Germain (H), Shakhtar Donetsk (H), Inter Milan (A), Sporting CP (A), Monaco (H), Dinamo Zagreb (H), Girona (A).
Real Madrid (+650)
After losing to AC Milan on Matchday 4, Real Madrid were blanked by Liverpool on Matchday 5, and the loss of Vini Jr. is looking like a major problem.
Madrid were void of any real ideas moving forward, with Kylian Mbappe struggling to impose himself, and missing a penalty that would have leveled the game at 1-1.
Nonetheless, it would be foolish to count out the defending Champions League winners, despite teetering on the brink of elimination.
Real Madrid opponents: Stuttgart (H), Lille (A), Borussia Dortmund (H), AC Milan (H), Liverpool (A), Atalanta (A), Red Bull Salzburg (H), Brest (A).
2024-25 Champions League Format
The Champions League format we've all known to love is changing (perhaps for the better), so let's break it down:
- Instead of having 32 teams split into eight groups, there will now be one league that houses all 36 qualified teams.
- Each team will play eight games against randomly selected opponents (based on pot seedings) — four home and four away.
- Three points for a win, one point for a draw.
- The Top 8 teams on point total will qualify for the Round of 16, while the teams that finish between 9th and 24th will play a two-legged playoff with the winners securing their spot in the Round of 16.
- From there, the competition will continue as normal with a two-leg home and away fixture for each tie onwards until the Finals which is a winner-take-all match at a neutral venue.
The Champions League draw will take place on August 29, 2024, and the tournament will get underway on September 17, with the league portion wrapping up on January 29, 2025.
Past Champions League trends
To get ahead of the pack there are a few trends that may help you when choosing your Champions League winner:
- Spanish clubs have won the most combined Champions Leagues of any country, with Real Madrid winning 15 and Barcelona winning five.
- Italian club Juventus has been to nine finals — only to lose seven times.
- Six different English teams have won the tournament, the most from one country.

Understanding Champions League odds
These odds are constantly adjusted throughout the summer as players get hurt, suspended or transfer. Once the season begins, title odds will change as teams win and lose games and as more players get hurt or are suspended. Sportsbooks will also adjust the Champions League odds based on handle and liability to certain teams.
Champions League odds will usually look like this:
- Bayern Munich +250
This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $250 if Bayern wins the Champions League. If it's close to the end of the tournament you might see that a team has a minus sign (-) ahead of its odds.
- Barcelona -120
This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on a Barcelona championship.
