NHL MVP favorites
Kirill Kaprizov (+260)
We always knew how good Kirill Kaprizov was, but the winger has turned it up to the next level this season.
His play has the Minnesota Wild near the top of the West, and he leads the league in points. He's currently on pace for career highs in points and assists.
GP | G | A | PTS |
---|---|---|---|
23 | 15 | 23 | 38 |
Connor McDavid (+300)
An early-season injury gave hope to others in the NFL MVP race, but Connor McDavid bounced back quickly and has been a menace since returning to the lineup. The Oilers' captain has 21 points in 11 games since rejoining the lineup, and books have been quick to push him right back to the top of the odds board after he slipped.
Pending no more injuries, McDavid will soon reclaim the "favorite" status.
GP | G | A | PTS |
---|---|---|---|
21 | 12 | 19 | 31 |
Nathan MacKinnon (+450)
Nathan MacKinnon won his first MVP award last season, and he's clearly hungry for another one. No one sees the game quite like Nate, and his teammates love him for it.
MacKinnon leads the league in assists, but the Avalanche's mediocre play is more than likely keeping him from the top spot honors.

NHL MVP predictions
Oddsmakers currently see the MVP race as a tossup between McDavid and Kirill Kaprizov, with Kaprizov slightly ahead of the Oilers' captain. MacKinnon is in the Top 3 everywhere else, with his shortest odds being +400 at Sports Interaction.
Kyle LaRusic NHL MVP prediction
I have to ride the hot hand and go with Kaprizov here. He leads the league in points and he gets plenty of ice time with Minnesota's top players. If he can keep Minnesota in the win column, he should be able to keep McDavid off his tracks.

Understanding NHL MVP odds
Most sportsbooks will display odds in the American format as listed above. When the regular season is nearly finished and a consensus has emerged, you might see a player with a minus sign (-) ahead of his odds, like this:
- Connor McDavid -400
The (-) means that McDavid is the odds-on favorite, and a bettor would need to wager $400 to win $100. Other contenders in the MVP race might have plus (+) odds to win.
- Nathan MacKinnon +650
Here, a bettor stood to profit $650 for every $100 wagered.
If American odds aren't your thing, simply use a tool like our odds converter to switch the odds to decimal or fractional format. Most online sportsbooks also give you the option to change the odds format that you see.
