The World Series ended nearly a month ago, so we're putting 2024 in the rearview mirror.
MLB odds have the Los Angeles Dodgers as clear favorites to repeat after they beat the New York Yankees in five games. However, free agency hasn't really taken off and everyone is waiting to see where Juan Soto winds up.
With that in mind, let's look at the early 2025 World Series odds.

World Series odds analysis
The Los Angeles Angels have been baseball's busiest team in terms of transactions since the MLB postseason concluded, but it hasn't improved their standing in the 2025 World Series odds. Yes, they acquired Jorge Soler from the Atlanta Braves, added catcher Travis d'Arnaud, signed Kyle Hendricks, and, most recently, inked Yusei Kikuchi to a three-year, $63-million contract, but is that going to move the needle?
Mike Trout's health will be important but this team has shown time and again that it doesn't really matter if he's at the top of his game or not. Until the Angels can win, the betting odds (+25,000) are right to be skeptical.
Otherwise, we've been in a holding pattern waiting for Juan Soto to sign his presumably mammoth contract — likely with either the New York Yankees or New York Mets, though he's met with several teams — the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox are also said to be serious contenders, but I'll believe that when I see him in uniform. When the Soto domino falls, expect some adjustments to the odds board.
Like the various Angels deals, a recent trade that sent Brady Singer from the Kansas City Royals to the Cincinnati Reds for Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer hardly affected either team's odds.

How to read MLB World Series futures odds
Sportsbooks will post World Series futures as soon as the previous season concludes, and some even sooner. These betting boards are constantly adjusted throughout the winter and ensuing season as players get hurt or are traded. Once the regular season begins, World Series odds will change daily as teams win and lose games, and as more players are injured or traded. Sportsbooks will also adjust the World Series odds based on handle and liability to certain teams.
World Series odds will usually look like this:
- Los Angeles Dodgers +240
This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $240 if the Dodgers win the World Series. If it's close to the end of the season or MLB has a very dominant team, you could see a minus sign (-) ahead of a team's odds.
- Atlanta Braves -150
This means that if you bet on the Atlanta Braves during the 2020 MLB season, you would have needed to bet $150 to profit $100 if the Braves won the championship.
